Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Developer Sledgehammer Games responded following the game’s controversial release, saying it was “incredibly proud of Modern Warfare III“.
The latest entry in Activision’s long-running series of annualized shooters has been poorly reviewed, currently sitting at an average of 53 on Metacritic, with the common consensus being that the campaign is a short, hollow experience with an underwhelming story, Poor stealth mechanics and a lot of reused content.
Trophies from the PS5 version appear as DLC for Modern Warfare IIwhich led people to believe that the game was intended to be an expansion and not a full game before it was modified, and a report of BloombergIndustry veteran Jason Schreier says that was indeed the case.

The report claims that a dozen employees said Modern Warfare III was developed in just 16 months, although it was upgraded to a full main series entry, which typically has a three-year development cycle.
These 16 months would have been very difficult (extreme mandatory overtime), and the Sledgehammer employees are distraught after learning that this would no longer happen to them after working hard. Call of Duty: Vanguard.
A statement from developer lead Aaron Halon on Twitter/X attempted to paint a more positive picture of the situation, while denying this information.

We can’t wait to see how our community reacts to everything the game as a whole has to offer, in Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes.
“Since development began, we have all been focused on creating the next revolutionary product. Call of Duty game.
“Long before we finished our previous game, we heard loud and clear from fans their desire to stay and play together longer within the same series. And that’s what we delivered: the first true continuation of the franchise’s history.
“It’s also why we added features like Carry Forward for the first time to honor the investment our players have made in the Modern warfare series.
“We are proud to be the team leading the way Modern Warfare III. We have worked hard to realize this vision which has been years in the making. Anything that says otherwise is simply false: this is our game and we can’t wait to play it online with all of you. »
