Netflix, a CNET Editors’ Choice Award pick, announced during its Geeked Week 2023 virtual event that it will add a handful of games to its gaming service in the coming months. These games include award-winning titles like Hades and a game based on the popular Netflix series Money Heist.
While Netflix is practically synonymous with streaming movies and TV shows, like Black Mirror and Stranger Things, your subscription also gives you access to a library of mobile games that you can play on your iOS or Android device. If you are a Netflix subscriber ($7 per month), you can play these and many other games without ads or in-app purchases at no extra cost.
Here are the titles that Netflix Games will soon add to its service. There is no release date for these titles yet unless otherwise noted.
Money theft
The streaming service is turning its popular crime drama into an interactive game exclusive to Netflix. You join the team in the series’ original heist, and your choices help determine what happens next. This narrative game will be released alongside the spin-off Money Heist Berlin, which Netflix announced would arrive in December.
Shadow and Bone: Enter the Fold
Set between the first and second seasons of the Netflix series, the film has you exploring the world by playing as some of the main characters from the series: Alina, Jesper, Sturmhond and General Kirigan. You meet new villains and familiar faces on your travels as you discover more stories in the Grishaverse. This Netflix Games exclusive title is available now.
Chicken coop: egg extraction
This Netflix exclusive is made by Aardman, the creators of the Chicken Run film series. The game is a real-time, top-down heist game filled with mind-blowing escapes. You are responsible for saving the chickens and making sure they return to Chicken Island safely. The game takes place after the end of the Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget movie, so while there’s no release date yet, the game will likely release around the same time as the movie.
The Dragon Prince: Xadia
Based on the Netflix animated series Dragon Prince, this role-playing game lets you step into the shoes of some of the series’ greatest champions. You can team up with friends to fight bad guys, discover new stories, or share a laugh. This game will be available exclusively through Netflix Games when it releases, and it will also come to PC later.
Hades
Netflix will soon add this award-winning roguelike dungeon crawler to its game library. You play as Zagreus, prince of the underworld, as you fight your way through hordes of enemies on a journey to challenge Hades. No two games are the same, giving each experience its own unique challenge.
Braid, anniversary edition
Fifteen years after its initial release, the award-winning platform game Braid comes to Netflix Games. Travel through a series of worlds in which you manipulate time to solve different puzzles. This edition also reimagines the title for modern material while preserving the integrity of the original.
Death’s door
In this action-adventure indie game, you control a raven whose job is to collect souls. The game is filled with dungeons and puzzles, and it will likely remind players of a Legend of Zelda game.
Katana Zero
Slash and sprint, and control the time, in this neon-drenched action platformer. You play as an amnesiac assassin capable of going back in time. As the game progresses, you discover more of your past through flashbacks, until you learn a dark truth about the world around you.
