Veterans Day falls on a Saturday this year, which is sure to cause some confusion.

This is one of the few unique holidays tied to a specific day: November 11th. But since it’s also a federal and bank holiday, not sure when it will be a little more difficult to get things done.

Here’s the good news: retail stores generally won’t be affected. With the exception of a few small businesses choosing to honor those who served, most will be open. However, if your to-do list includes visiting a government office or the bank on Friday, it can be much more complicated.

Here you can see who is open and closed on Veterans Day 2023 – both on the actual holiday and on the observed day.

What is Veterans Day?

The date of November 11th is significant – and there’s a reason we don’t deviate from it. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, an armistice (or armistice) between the Allied nations and Germany came into effect, signaling the unofficial end of the First World War.

Are banks open on Veterans Day?

No. Since Veterans Day is a federal holiday, most banks are closed.

However, since the holiday falls on a Saturday, the question arises as to whether you will be able to conduct your business on Friday, November 10th. Of course, you can still make online transfers and use ATMs to withdraw cash or deposit money into your account.
